  Hi,

  Are you sure you have completed every step in the deployment phase. It sounds like you have skipped a step or two. But if you have, let's begin with the autodiscovery (as the logfile return an error on the autodiscovery)

  When you log on with a a sip address like "mayaccount@mydomain.com", the Lync mobile client will be looking for the A records: lyncdiscoverinternal.mydomain.com and lyncdiscover.mydomain.com (the records must exist for every sip domain you have configured.

  If you enter http://lyncdiscoverinternal.mydomain.com/ in any browser on the subnet you are testing your mobile device from, it should return a downloadable file with further information.

  If this is successful, try the https://lyncdiscoverinternal.mydomain.com/ (and verify your client is downloading the same file, and the certificate does not generate any error (Having said that: have you installed the root and or issuing CA cert to the mobile device? it would not necessarily trust the presented certificate).

  (And try the same using lyncdiscover from the outside)

  The next thing you should try, is try accessing the URL's provided in the downloaded files

  FROM MY PC INTERNAL

  The lyncdiscoverinternal site with HTTPS comes back with "cannot download root from xxxx".  I do not get a cert warning.  The site with HTTP comes back with the file.   The file has this in it with HTTP.

  Trying to go to the link (correcting it of course) gives me the "cannot download file" message.

  FROM iPHONE INTERNAL on WiFi

  The lyncdiscoverinternal site will not download the file in safari.  It says that Safari cannot download the file.

  Sounds to you are having certificate issues.

  1) Have you updated the certificates on tht FE and the TMG to contain the lyncdiscover and lyncdiscoverinternal SAN's?

  2) Does your device trust the issuer?

  Please also try to open https://lyncdiscover.<domain>, you should receive a prompt to open or save the lyncdiscover_contoso.com file.
  In addition, please run Get-CsMCXconfiguration |fl to make sure ExposedWebUrl is set to External.

  Questions are being asked that I provided information for already.

  As it stands now

  INTERNAL = HTTPS to lyncdiscoverinternal is failing on my PC that is inside the network.  HTTP is working to the same site with a file download.

  EXTERNAL = HTTPS to lyncdiscover is failing on my pc that is external.  HTTP is not working at all, but I don't have the rule in TMG for port 80->8080

  TMG Web Publishing rule for lyncdiscover 443->4443 is using the WildCard cert (*.Domain.com).  Switching to the SAN cert makes no difference.

  Lync FE server INT site port 443 (LyncDiscoverInternal) is using the SAN cert (Sip/LyncDiscover/LyncDiscoverInternal/LyncFEServerName.Domain.com). 

  Lync FE server EXT site port 4443 is using the wildcard cert.

  The command: get-csmcxconfiguration | fl

  Identity                       : Global
  SessionExpirationInterval      : 259200
  SessionShortExpirationInterval : 3600
  ExposedWebURL                  : External
  PushNotificationProxyUri       : sip:push@push.lync.com

  Do I need to use the SAN cert in my TMG rule or will the wildcard cert work fine? 

  Does my Lync External IIS site need the SAN cert instead of the wildcard cert?

  I would imagine that if I use the SAN cert on the External IIS site that it needs the actual name (lyncweb.domain.com) but I am not sure.  Does it only need lyncdiscover out of the 2 names?

  I will go to this technet blog today from the previous post and run through it.

  If I put my SAN cert on my external site and my TMG rule I get

  HTTP 500 error: The target principle name is incorrect.

  Again, this is missing the external lync site name.  Is this why?

  There is support wildcard certificates for some services. But when I am going through the documentation, I can't find any support for wildcard cert regarding mobility. but I could be mistaken.

  And if you use the deployment tool to generate the cer req, it will populate the internal server cert with all the correct SAN's

  I switched my cert on all 3 locations to *.domain.com wildcard cert.  This is the TMG web listener, the FE INT site and the FE EXT site.

  Using CHROME and not IE I get the following

  So It is working fine internally. In this case, let’s refer to the following tips to check external lync mobility connectivity:

  1.  Please browse the following URL:

   http://lyncdiscover.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscoverservice.svc/root/domain

  You should receive a prompt to open or save the domain file. The URL mentioned in the domain file must be the external web services URL for the Front End Server or Director pool. If the internal web services URL is returned, the web publishing rule is incorrect.

  2. Please try to browse the URL https://lyncexternal. contoso.com/mcx/mcxservice.svc/mex

  You should see https://lyncexternal.contoso.com/Mcx/McxService.svc/WebTicket_Bearer in the browser or the XML SOAP information. This means the web services URL authentication setting is set to negotiate.

  To quickly verify the web services URL authentication settings, use the Lync Management Shell to run the following cmdlet.

  Get-CsWebServicesConfiguration |fl

  Verify the value for the UseWindowsAuth parameter is set to Negotiate.

  3. Please make sure the latest updates have been installed. A similar issue for your reference:

  Number 1 comes up just fine, and the file has the external FQDN for the Lync FE server.

  Number 2 comes up just fine, and the file has the internal FQDN for the SOAP link.  Is this supposed to be the external FQDN?

  It is supposed to be the the external FQDN. In this case, please try to verify the reverse proxy publishing rule configuration.

  I had went to the site https://lyncexternal.contoso.com/mcx/mcxservice.svc/mex from an internal source.  This is when the xml soap information shows the internal IIS site name.  Should I do this from the outside?  If so then I don't have an external DNS entry for my external IIS site.

  When going to the site https://lyncdiscover.contoso.com/mcx/mcxservice.svc/mex from the outside I get a HTTP 403 response

  What good will testing P2PIM in resolving this issue?

  So just to recap, when I go to the Lync external IIS page while I am Internal then I should get the internal IIS link or the external IIS link for the soap info?  I currently get the internal one.
