    Hi All,

As per my limited knowledge regarding the admin activities that SP Admin performs daily, Admin do review the logs and see if system is healthy or not, Admin do open the logs manually in some logs viewers.

I am just exploring that this task can be automated by Best Practice Analyzer tool. If yes, does it monitor the logs OOBT or custom rules has be created for same.

Couple of year back I have worked with London insurance market to automate the monitoring of the applications. We have implemented a monitoring agent that monitors the logs every 10 minutes and if there is any exception in logs, agent triggers mail & sms to admin. Also it starts flashing on center monitoring tool. I am wondering does it possible to have such monitoring mechanism in SharePoint.

    Regards Amit

    Hi Amit,

In Sharepoint 2010 we have OOB Health Analyzer. By default there are certain pre-defined rules. Refer the below article to know the list of pre-defined rules

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff686816.aspx

As per your requirement you can also created custom rules . You can also configure email alerts and RSS feed to know the Problems indentified by Sharepoint Health Analyzer. For further information refer the article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee681489.aspx

    Hi Amit,

The Health Analyzer which has been built into SP2010 kind of does the work of the Best Practice Analyzer.  I don't beleive a BPA exists for 2010 but there are Management Packs available for SCOM.

Seem you are correct i am taking this tool in wrong way, it is not a monitoring tool. It is just a Best Practice Analyzer tool however i am trying to use it as monitoring tool.
