See ** below for my question regarding VERSION (title) but this post is all related to one issue I'm having in WLM.

I am REALLY disappointed in the lack of getting an answer for my ongoing inability to re-add a non-Windows Live Mail email address to my WLM account!  This has been an ongoing problem for almost 3 months, and I am about ready to give up on Windows Live Mail, even though I just subscribed to Windows Live Mail Plus, thinking that I could POSSIBLY get some personal support.

I had all my email addresses funneled into WLM until my Yahoo! account was compromised about 3 months, which forced me to change my Yahoo! password.  In making this change, I went into my WLM mail settings to change the password there, as well.  I tried it probably 30 times, always with churning and machinations and then, finally, an error message ("We can't connect to Hotmail right now" is the one I get most).  So I then deleted the email account entirely, thinking I'd start over and add it.  Unfortunately, I still have that error message.

I posted in the forum and someone replied, but told me to try logging into my web-based WLM to see if the problem existed there, which seemed ridiculous, because that is the very place that I AM having the problem!  I was also told to try a different browser; again, ridiculous, because I shouldn't HAVE to use a different browser to get it to work as it has for several years until, like I said, I had to change my Yahoo! password.

I did try to log in from my other 2 computers, but I get the same error message.

BTW, when I click on ADVANCED and change the Port to 110 and no SSL, I get this message:

"Check your user name and password, but the problem may be that Yahoo! requires you to subscribe to Yahoo! Mail Plus."  Actually, I DO subscribe to Yahoo! Mail Plus, so this error message shouldn't apply.  Again, I have tried this setting dozens of times, too.

**When I contacted Yahoo! for help, I was told they needed to know which VERSION of Windows Live Mail I was using, and although I tried, I haven't been able figure out how to do this.  Is it possible that there was a version upgrade that somehow coincided with my trying to add my Yahoo! email to my WLM account?  And also, is there ANY other kind of Windows Live Mail but web-based?

I want to stick with WLM, but I am going to have to switch if I can't get this remedied soon.  It's been over 3 months!

I would really appreciate some help from Customer Service for this problem.  Thank you so much for any help you can give me.

To see what version of Windows Live mail you have, click on the drop down arrow to the left of the Home tab and then click on About.

    Hi,

If you want to know what version of Windows Live Mail you are using, you may press Downward-pointing Triangle on top right corner of the mail window and press “About”. The methods are different in different versions Windows Live Mail.

You may have a try to download the latest Windows Live Mail.

Thank you.  I found the version, and I also have Windows Live Hotmail Plus.  However, I am still unable to get any help with my Yahoo! email problem as described above.  I have the very latest version, and am still having this issue.  Thank you for any help you can give me.

I suggest you contact Yahoo for the correct mail server address and settings such as the smtp and pop server address, perhaps it is SSL and the port number is 995.

Thanks for your help.  I have tried those settings (those are the default), as well as the advanced.  I am trying to get help from Yahoo! now.  Will report back if I learn anything.
