When I built up a new pc I brought a 23" Samsung SM2333SW TFT monitor. When connected via DVI i found that in certain areas (like PhotoShop and Windows Picture Viewer) whites were displaying with a yellow tint.

After a hour or so of fine tuning the calibration software for the screen I found out its a problem with Windows reading the colour profile incorrectly. Apparently this also happens in Windows Vista also, but the good news is its very easy to correct.

To solve the problem and restore normal colours, you can try one of the resolutions below.

All actions will be done at Colour Management tab, which is accessible by opening the start menu, type in Colour Management and choose Change Advance Colour Management Settings for Displays..... . You will need to select (tick) Use my settings for this device to be able to remove, change or set new colour profiles.

The first workaround is by removing any existing ICC or WCS colour profiles that are been associated with all display devices or monitors. Else, you can also try to change the default colour profile for your system’s monitor to sRGB IEC61966-2.1, simply by clicking on Add , and then select sRGB IEC61966-2.1 from the list of profiles installed on system. After adding, click Set as Default Profile button. Exit from all dialogs and reboot your computer, and the colour problem is fixed.

If your system doesn’t have sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile under the ICC Profiles, you can download the colour profile from Adobe . Unpack the zip file, the right click on each of the .icc files in the RGB Profiles and CMYK Profiles folders (or simply just the one you need to use) and click “Install Profile” on context menu to install the colour profile to system.

I hope this helps anyone that may be having this issue.

The first problem you have is that Windows 7 doesn't work well with DVI; try buying a DVI>VGA adaptor, they're not expensive. Secondly, check that the pins are not bent or broken on both ends of your DVI cable; the pins are very easily bent or broken. Thirdly, check for an up-to-date driver from Samsung. Lastly, try re-calibrating the colour settings on your monitor.
