"Missing operating system" massage because of "mark disk partition as active"

Hai,,
"Missing operating system" massage is coming when i start my system. I think
because , i had given "mark partition as active" option for one hard
dive (E) in disk management when last time i opened. it did not have any data.
i did not know, this will make any problem. Now i am not able to boot windows re installation dvd
also. i can only take BIOS settings.How i can activate my original partion?
or how i can mark as incative my other partion?
please any one suggest any way for
rectifying this problem ASAP.

If you cannot boot into Windows, you will have to find a disk utility on the internet, like Partition Magic, that can be put on a bootable disk so you can access the partition information.

From the command prompt
diskpart
list disk
select disk 1
list partition
select partition 1
activeExit (diskpart)
Disk 1 and Partition 1 are assumed values in your case they might be different like disk 2 partition 1.
Reboot and try it if it works if it doesn't you may need to update booth pathcd windows\system32
bcdboot d:\windows /s c:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-vista/Mark-a-partition-as-active
