The backup policy could not be modified.
Error : An internal error prevented the modification of the backup policy.

Hi,
It could be a temporary glitch with the service that prevented you from creating the backup policy. Can you please try again? If the operation fails on retry, please paste the relevant error traces from the CBEngineCurr.errlog here. The location of the error log: <Product Install Dir>\Microsoft Online Backup Service Agent\Temp\CBEngineCurr.errlog?
Thanks, Hitesh “This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.”

The error seems to be in registering the backup task with Task Scheduler on your windows: "WARNING Stack trace: at Microsoft.Internal.CloudBackup.ObjectModel.OMCommon.CBTaskScheduler.RegisterTask(CBSchedule schedule)"
Can you look up event viewer for any relevant warning/error events? Is the Task Scheduler service running? Are you able to successfully manually add a new task?
Can you email the engine errorlog file to obspgsupport@microsoft.com?
Thanks, Hitesh “This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.”

The Task Scheduler Service is Running.
If I add manually a new task (cmd command for example) , all is executed correctly.
There are not error/warning in the eventvwr connected with this thread.Sometimes in the eventvwr appear the following error message:
"A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint.
This may result in termination of the connection.
The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 70. The Windows SChannel error state is 105."Also if I try to stop the "Task Scheduler Service" with the administrator account, I get an "Access Denied" (system Error 5) error.
I sent the error log to obsbeta@microsoft.com, because i have some problem to send email to obspgsupport@microsoft.com.
Thanks

The reason for failure is in registering the backup schedule with the task scheduler. We need task scheduler logs to debug this further. Please share the task scheduler logs, the location of which can be found from registry path: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SchedulingAgent", key 'LogPath'.
From the engine errorlogs it is pretty evident that failure was due to error in registering the backup tasks with task scheduler. :

As you can see from the picture , I have not a "LogPath" configured on server. How Can I enable it ?
Let me know. Thanks.

Hi Pasquale,
We have seen a similar bug in one of our later builds. You are running into an issue where the Task Scheduler is not able to understand the task XML we are passing to it. The Task XML basically contains the details about the policy you just created - when to schedule automatic backups etc. The task XML contains an invalid character. My hunch is that this could be because of a different language OS. Can you please provide some details of your Windows version [Computer -> Right Click -> Properties -> Windows Edition]? Particularly, are you using it in English or some other language?
Thanks,

lunes, 14 de mayo de 2012 20:38Thanks for the info Pasquale. This is happening solely because of the Italian language. It's a known issue and has been fixed in our later builds. Online Backup Beta service is supported for US customers and in English language only. Using the product on an English version of the OS will resolve your issue for now. Apologies for the inconvenience.
