Slow printing with Easy Print
- Has faced such problem.
Operation occurs in a terminal session. If it is necessary print the document it can occupy a lot of time. The interval can reach about several minutes if the user, for example, sits in other city.
I understand that the new technology of press Easy Print is inserted. And now print process occurs a little on another.
However, probably somebody knows, what ways of rise of speed of this process are.
Somebody can knows links to articles with the description of a problem and its solution.
I could not find such information except for one forum where the person complained of the slow press and wished to refuse from Easy Print.
But I do not accept a refusal variant as I have received in this schedule considerable advancement concerning version 2003 TS in respect of drivers.

Hello Michael and Marcus,
Easy Print is a new feature since Windows Server 2008 Terminal Services. In the process of Easy Print, the Easy Print universal driver acts as a proxy and redirects all the UI calls to the driver on the client. The performance of the feature quite depends on the related drivers that supports Easy Print. In such a case, please consider to check the following two factors:
· Check the official website of the printer and install the most updated printer driver supporting Easy Print for your printer.
· Update the driver for the network adapter on both the server and the client side.
Besides, here is a known issue described on the following KB article and please take it as reference:
FIX: After you apply hotfix 954744, printing performance may be significantly slower when you print documents by using Terminal Services Easy Print

Thanks.

- Hi Lionel,
i hope you can help me, too. I also have to deal with very slow printing using easy print. My situation is as followes:
A farm of 2 Windows Server 2008 Standard X64 terminal servers
A few Vista SP2 (x86) clients
About 50 XP SP 3 (x86) clients
All printers are HP (however, various models) using PCL5 or PCL6 drivers
Virtualy all printers are network printers conected over IP and shared on a Windows Server 2003 machine
We have Dot Net 3.0 SP1 or Dot Net 3.0 SP2 on all our clients and Dot Net 3.5 in addition on most of them. We have no printer drivers isntalled on our TS so far, as we need to use easy print. There are not all neccessary drivers available for all our printers for Server 2008.
When we print everything seems to work fine, but we get realy big spool-files (up to 50 MB+ for 10 pages of mostly text). We also have very very slow printing: We wait 1 or 2 mins for the first page and then another 10 to 30 secs between each following page. If we print the same thing with the same application on a Windows 2003 TS (no matter 32 or 64 bit) with print drivers on the server everything prints just instantly.
We use Office 2007 and an application using list and label for generating reports. Printing from Acrobat Reader 9 is slow, too.
I already sloved the problem of single wrong characters in our prints by replacing all postscript drivers by PCL drivers. So far, wie did not run into any issues with faulty paper orientation. I also already tried the hotfix 954744, but it had now effect. This is not that big a supprise, as the fix is intended to solve a problem that an other fix - which i did not install - caused.
Thanks a lot!
Bernd
