AD CS - cannot issue certificate template
-
domingo, 23 de noviembre de 2008 1:34Hello,
I have modified a template that I need to issue. However, the template is not showing up under "New->Certificate Template To Issue." The help note says it might take 30 minutes to replicate, but it has been much longer than that.
This is the only server, and does not have any clients.
I am following "Windows Server 2008 Administrator's Companion" on page 812 (I'm learning).

Your enterprise CA is running on Standard Edition. To issue custom (v2) certificate templates, the CA must be installed on an Enterprise Edition box. You can perform an upgrade in place (as long as you have the license of course <G>)

Thanks for the info, that would explain why it isn't showing up.
Under Standard what is an alternative method to secure accounts? My goal is to get a VPN functioning. -

Hi,
To deploy L2TP/IPSec-based Remote Access, you can enroll computer certificate, which can be issued by Standard Edition.
For more information about deploying L2TP/IPSec-based Remote Access, you may refer to the following articles:

If you need further assistance regarding the VPN configuration, I suggest that you submit the questions in Networking-related forums. The support professionals and members there are more experienced on it.
