what happened NLB?

    Question

  • Hi all,

I set up CAS array already (two CAS severs) and tested fine.

After one week, If I open the NLB in the CAS1 server, it shows message "Access denided.  Error connecting to CAS2 server.

If I open NLB in the CAS 2 server, it shows message ""Access denided.  Error connecting to CAS1 server."

The NLB array will not be able to see both servers.

    How would I solve this?

    Thank you.

  • Problem solved and the cause is due to Symantec Endpoint installation.

    Thank you all.

  • Hi,

Do you have more than one network cards in the servers?

I think that it is normal behaviour that servers can't communicate if there is only one network card in each server and the NLB is configured to use unicast.

  • Hi Leif,

    >Do you have more than one network cards in the servers?

Yes, I have two; one for NLB; one for Production I configured to use multicast.

AS I said before, it worked beautifully one week ago and I even shut down one CAS server and outlook users still connect.

Now, Since CAS array can only see one server, outlook users get disconnected if I reboot one server.

It's ODD and how things changed in one week?

What else should I do to make the CAS array to see two servers?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Bodana,

Did you configure this ENV in virtual ENV, if yes what it is . Hyper-V or Vmware.. This is known issue if you configure in virtual env and need to fine tune NIC setting in virtual host.

    Waiting your response !

  • Hi Anil,

    Thank you for your help.

    >Did you configure this ENV in virtual ENV, if yes what it is . Hyper-V or Vmware..

VMware.  We followed the VMware to do a static ARP when using VMware.

After we configured, everything worked perfectly fine.

Now, when on CAS1, when opening NLB manager, then message shows " loading configuration information from host CAS2 for

cluster 192.168.1.60; Access denied.  Error connecting to CAS2"

    How would I solve this?

  • Hi,

Could you please try to close “Time synchronization” on both nodes?

And make sure both the nodes have correct local time.

You could try to remove the nodes from the cluster and add them again.
