Third Party Cert Renewal

    Question

  • For reasons known only to my third party cert authority, I need to create a new cert request instead of being able to renew my current Exchange 2010 cert.  Anyway, dumb question, but if I'm only an Exchange 2010 environment now (upgraded from Exchange 2003), do I need to put the legacy.domain.com in my SAN names or can I just request a new cert with just mail.domain.com and autodiscover.domain.com as the subject althernative names?

  • The legacy domain is only necessary when you still co-exist with older Exchange versions (2003/2007). So, according to your information that isn't the case and you can probably save some money by leaving it out.
