We have 2 dial plans, one is teluri and one is siprui based. The SIP is connected to Lync Enterprise Voice and the Tel is connected to an Avaya Session Manager.
Some users that are in the SIP dialplan have both a Lync and Avaya phone. The calls to either work covering to UM for these users.
What they are asking for is that the MWI light work on both the Lync AND the Avaya phones for these users.
I know the Lync uses the EWS to check messages and then will trun the light on, but no 'push' is made by the UM to the Avaya light.
Any ideas how to make it work?
UM will typically only do a SIP Notify to the primary EUM address of the user. If Lync is pulling/polling for the light and you are only trying to get the Avaya phone to light the MWI, then UM disable the user. Then UM enable them in the tel uri UM Dial Plan (so this becomes their primary EUM). Then add the sip uri UM Dial Plan as their secondary EUM address.
This is assuming MWI functions on your tel uri UM Dial Plan. And not having the sip uri UM Dial Plan set as the primary EUM address makes Lync 2010 act a bit differently.
If you can't get this to function the way you want you may have to get a 3rd party MWI product to do what you want.
Unfortunately, when it is set to the tel uri it doesn't function the way we expect it to for call coverage to UM. The Tel Uri number works covering to UM but the SIP Lync call doesn't.
I was thinking third party as well, but ahd to see if anyone had done this any other way.
