Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server ... failed

    Question

  • I have exchange 2003 with SP2 installed and working well. Mobile devices and service activated and all looks good.

I go to the ipad or iphone  and setup a new exchange email account, fill in all the details, and DO GET confirmation that the name has been accepted and verified.

When I try to login, I get the dreaded 'Cannot Get mail. The connection to the server failed'

  • Can you open ADUC, go to the properties of the user, security tab, advanced and see if inheritance is checked. If you don't see the security tab make sure your ADUC has advanced features checked in the menu.

  • ExRCA is testing Exchange ActiveSync.
     The Exchange ActiveSync test failed.
     Test Steps
Attempting to resolve the host name exchange.sherif-clothing.com in DNS.
     The host name resolved successfully.
     Additional Details
     IP addresses returned: 196.201.244.149

Testing TCP port 443 on host exchange.sherif-clothing.com to ensure it's listening and open.
The specified port is either blocked, not listening, or not producing the expected response.
Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it
     Additional Details
A network error occurred while communicating with the remote host.

  • Try the below article for your question

As per above Exchange ActiveSync logs  the TCP port 443 is either blocked, not listening.Check the port is properly open on server using telnet.

So the port 443 is not available. However it is strange since other mobile devices are working fine.

    Any other information?
