Deleting the Outlook.OST file to reset the cache?

    Question

  • Hello,

I've run into a problem where after a lossy-failover in a CCR cluster, Outlook's cache appears to get out of sync with whats in Exchange.  I see duplicated appointments in Outlook that I don't see in Outlook Web Access.  I discovered if I exit Outlook, delete the Outlook.OST file, and then start Outlook those duplicated apointments go away.  Is it safe to delete the Outlook.OST file to reset the cache?  Or is there any other data stored in that OST file you might be a risk losing if you delete it?  Is there any better way to get Outlook to refresh its cache?

    Thanks,
    Greg
