How to disable recalling message?

    Question

  • Is there any way to disallow message being recalled from external users?

What I mean is that when external users recall the message, Outlook will not delete the recalled message no matter what.

  • Hi,

From your description, I understand that you want to disallow messages be recalled by external users. Based on my Experience, there is no straight forward way to disallow messages be recalled by external users. But as Message Recall will not be successful if:

    1. The recipient is not using Outlook.
    2. The recipient is not logged on to the mail service provider.
    3. The message has been moved from the Inbox.
    4. The message has been read. This includes viewing the message with the Preview Pane so that the message is flagged as Read.
    5. People not in the Corporate Workgroup.

If one of the condition above do not meet, the Recall Message would not be success, I suggest you can achieve the goal by these ways:

1.You can create a rule which will move the messages sent by external users to another folder(out of Inbox).

        2. Use OWA or other clients to read and send emails.

  • There is a little chance that it will work, if by externals users you mean users from another company, then the chances are very less for it to work.

to answer you question, in outlook there is no straight forward way to disable the recall.
