"Cannot move the items. The item cannot be moved. It was either already moved or deleted, or access was denied"

    Question

  • We had some database problems and had to restore from backup (Appassure Replay)

However that are many users that can't move or delete emails in Outlook or OWA. When they try to move in Outlook they get:

"Cannot move the items. The item cannot be moved. It was either already moved or deleted, or access was denied"

If they try to just hit DELETE it does nothing.

In OWA when they delete it goes away but after a few seconds (when it auto checks again) it is right back

  • wanted to know in case if hard repair was initiated against the database with the command below:

    eseutil /p "database file.edb"

In case if repair is initiated then it is mandatory to also complete the defrag using eseutil /d "Databasefile.edb" and then ISINTEG -S ServerName -Fix -Test Alltests after you mount/dismount the store once.

In case if repair is done and defrag/isinteg were not done against then this message is quite common due to the old indexes which may be referring to the location where mail doesn't exist.

So, reply back by providing a little history about when did it last work and what were the changes made after which it stopped working.

  • Hi

When you delete it in OWA, was the Outlook opened? If yes, close outlook and try again.

Also try to disable the third-party addins on your outlook.

    Cheers

  • It was the isinteg I ran. When I ran it again it resolved the issues for everyone that I know of so far.

    Thanks!
