Download hotfix 911829 for Exchange 2000

    Question

  • Hi,

I have the problem described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911829 where users cannot compose/reply to emails using OWA in Windows Vista.

All the Exchange front-end/back-end servers are Exchange 2000 SP3.

The article doesn't provide a direct link to download the hotfix for Exchange 2000.

How can I get this hotfix?

    Best Regards,

    Ken

  • Hi Ken,

You would have to call the Microsoft Support number (800-936-4900 for US) and the Microsoft Exchange Support Tech can provide you with the hotfix for Exchange 2000 Server.

Its also mentioned in the article to contact the Microsoft Support inorder to receive the hotfix for Exchange 2000 Server

“To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Customer Support Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

  • Thanks Harpreet!!

    I will make the call.

    There are 4 Exchange front-ends and 22 Exchange back-ends.

Which do you think is the better method to rollout this update? Apply it to all 26 servers the same night? Or apply it in a phased basis such as 6 servers per night?

The article mentions the list of .dll files this hotfix replaces. My concern is if functionality will be affected by having one server with a version of a .dll and another server with a different version of the same .dll.

    Best Regards,

    Ken

    Hi Ken,

Please update your Front End Servers first and then your back end servers, the reason being OWA might create some issues if there are updated files are on the BE and those files could not be found on the FE.

You can apply patches on the BE either in phase or all at once, provided FE is updated first.

Let me know if you have any issues.
