  • Scott,

I just thought that for the very last time to try the installation and to my surprise it went through without a hitch, now that was strange!!
I wonder if I have an issue with AD replication? For future , do you have any suggestion on what sort of stuff I should be looking for?

    Thanks

  • Could you please provide some additional information on your Exchange environemnt and AD environment?  I'm curious to know if the Exchange Server is on a DC or if it is a matter of AD replication.

  • Hi Scott;

The server for the AD is a single function and nothing else is running on it. The  server for exchange eside on a different server.
Functional level of AD is 2008, and the schema was modified last week to accommodate OCS 2007 R2.
I added the Exchange machine to the domain Admin gorup , the install process at first was failing to install the Hub Transport Role and none of the other services were installing.
After adding the exchange computer to the Domain Admin group I was able to install the Hub Transport role (and that was the first service got installed),
Once completed the installation of the Hub Transport Role I started the installation of other services.

"Client Access" & "Unified Messaging" services were installed successfully, but the installation fail on the "Mail Box Role".
I have verified that the dymaic update of the DNS is working.

The Virtual Machine was dedictaed for Exchange, right now I am in process of preparing couple of other VM's to try the install again. But I am still curious on what went wrong.

As part of teh standard install process and  prior to the install,  I executed all the following standard scripts:
    ServerManagerCmd -i RSAT-ADDS

    ServerManagerCmd -i PowerShell

    ServerManagerCmd -i Web-Metabase
    ServerManagerCmd -i Web-Lgcy-Mgmt-Console

    ServerManagerCmd -i Web-Server
    ServerManagerCmd -i Web-ISAPI-Ext
    ServerManagerCmd -i Web-Metabase
    ServerManagerCmd -i Web-Lgcy-Mgmt-Console
    ServerManagerCmd -i Web-Basic-Auth
    ServerManagerCmd -i Web-Digest-Auth
    ServerManagerCmd -i Web-Windows-Auth
    ServerManagerCmd -i Web-Dyn-Compression
    ServerManagerCmd -i ADLDS

    ServerManagerCmd -i Desktop-Experience

    ServerManagerCmd -i RPC-over-HTTP-proxy

    Thanks

    Jay

  • Hi Jay,

You can refer to following article to troubleshoot AD replication issue:

In addition, please understand that the forum is for Exchange related issue. For AD issue, I suggest you post your question on Windows Server forum:

  • Jaytaba, glad it worked out for you.  Based on your error I was thinking it may be AD related.  If you see that type of error you could always rerun setup /pad.  You can actually run this command as many times as you want and it will not impact the information already there.

  • If I had to guess, and from looking at your error, I would say it was a replication issue in AD.  Glad to hear you got it working.
