local mailbox move to another databases fails

    Question

  • We're running Exchange 2010 in a DAG with CAS and mailbox roles on separate servers.  I'm getting the following error when trying to perform a local move request for only one mailbox, the others (30+) moved without any issues.

I've searched the forums, but can't seem to find a resolution that helps.

(I've placed "xxxx" to block out sensitive areas and to protect the innocent.)

  • Dear Fellow,

Seems like the mailbox you are trying to update have some corruptions and should be repaired first prior to movement.

You can try skipping the larger number of items but it would be more better to try to repair the mailbox first.

Check following link for repairing the mailbox (New-MailboxRepairRequest cmdlet):

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff625226.aspx

    Thanks.

  • I can find KB for error message you have mentioned above. What about if you use swicth -acceptlargedataloss in move request cmdlet.

Allow a large bad item limit

  • I ran the mailbox repair against the mailbox and the database.  The move is still failing and producing the same error as I posted above.

  • If you export the mail to .pst and then clear out his mailbox as it probably has corrupted items then try the move request? I see in the log the mailbox is 7GB in size.

  • Towards the bottom of the log I posted, you'll see the line:

Folder: '/Top of Information Store/RSS Feeds/Microsoft at Work', entryId [len=46,

I simply deleted this folder and the move completed successfully.

    Thanks for the help!
