retention policy help

    Pertanyaan

  • Hi all,

    Exchange 2010 SP1

We are going to implement 1 year retention policy for users' mailboxes.

I created the new tag and choose tag type "All other folders in the mailbox".  Is the right?  BTW, if I use the above type, will it apply to "Contacts" "Calendar" folders?

we do not want ""Contacts" "Calendar" applied.

    Can anyone help me?

    Thank you.

  • So MRM runs continously. it will put an event in the event viewer notifying you what it has finished. I can't remember the exact id. but it will tell you that is done for the day. or not. Just be carefull implementing you may want to apply the policy to smaller groups at first because it can create a lot of traffic if it has to delete or move a lot of email.

Since the process runs continiously you have 2 settings that affect it Managedfolderworkcycle and managedfolderworkcyclecheckpoint. By default the workcyle is set for 1 day that means when a mailbox has been processed it will not be processed again for 24 hours.

Workcylcecheckpoint is how often should the list be re-evaluated and new users added to the list and the list be re-prioritized. by default this is 1 day as well. in most cases this will be fine. When the process finishes it will post an event telling you how many it processes and how many failed.

    Hi SGryzowski,

DPT does not process "Calendar" and "tasks" items.

  • I seem to remember that "all other folders in the mailbox would not work with Retention policy tags. See this article

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd297955.aspx

    Hopefully someone can validate this.

  • Thanks for the link and help.

I need to apply this one year retention policy to 1500 users.  Do you know how long it will take?  Also, is there a way to find out whether all users have processed?

    Thank you.
