microsoft active directory exchange extension has encountered a problem and needs to close

    Pergunta

  • I am getting the error message above from a Windows 2003 server. We just added a few 2008 server to our domain and thats when I started noticing this error. When I close AD shortcut from my exchange server and start again I can work but after a while the error comes back. Any ideas?

  • Any related errors in the event viewer?

Check both AD servers and the Exchange

Also, run ExBPA and check for issues/warnings

  • I'm getting this same problem and it also started when adding several 2008 boxes.  I suspect this has to do with updating the AD Shema.

  • This hotfix should do the trick.

  • If your schema was updated to 2008, then the hotfix is worth installing and should hopefully resolve the issue.

  • I'm not sure if that would resolve your problem or not.  This hotfix updates the version of the adsiedit.dll I don't believe it will harm anything.  You can simply make a copy of the adsiedit.dll as a backup if you need to revert back to the old version.  It's located here: C:\Program Files\Support Tools.

Also make sure you've got the latest service pack installed.

Good Luck!  Post back on your findings :)
