  • Hi,

How are you installing the client? Manually? SCCM?

  • I ran across this message and was sad to see that it had not been answered. I also had this problem on several computers and after some research found out that the WMI repository was bad. Here is a link to a website that I use to repair the WMI which usually resolves the issue with this error. There were a couple other errors that I have had when installing FEP 2010 and this usually resolves those as well.

  • Hello,

I had the exact same issue with 2 computers at my work place. We ran McAfee though. What we did was we completely disabled all McAfee services and disabled it from starting on boot up. Next we ran CCleaner and did a deep clean on the machine having the issue. Rebooted the computer and ran the FEP install and worked like a charm. It found and removed McAfee and carried on with the install successfully.

I hope this does the trick and helps you out.

  • Hi.

I rebuild WMI and then restart the installation process. The result is OK. Te WMI script is this:

    net stop winmgmt /y
    c:
    cd %windir%\system32\wbem
    if exist %windir%\system32\wbem\repository.old rmdir /s /q repository.old
    rename %windir%\system32\wbem\repository repository.old
    for /f %%s in (' dir /b *.dll' ) do regsvr32 /s %s
    net start winmgmt
    wmiprvse /regserver
