Installation issue - Failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895

  • This is a fresh install on a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 machine. The installed fails right at the end, with the following messages

    [9:12:08 AM Info] Showing MessageBox with text: Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010\XLANGsCompiler.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895. Contact your support personnel. Return Code: 5
    [9:12:09 AM Info] Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010\BTSMIMEComps.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895. Contact your support personnel.
    [9:12:12 AM Info] Showing MessageBox with text: Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010\BTSMIMEComps.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895. Contact your support personnel. Return Code: 5

    Looks like this problem was already reported couple of years ago http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/vcgeneral/thread/9BB49364-F34D-4BFC-9559-7195A4CDE2FD but the solution is not correct.

  • Looks like there's some permission issue, error code 5 means access denied.

    Run Process Monitor then run regsvr32 IN ADMINISTATIVE command prompt for those dlls, filter by result code (access denied), check what kind of permission is required by which user during the registration.

  • Just try.

    go to Start -> Run command ->Type msconfig.exe

    System Configuration window will pop up. Then select Tools tab and then select Change UAC settings. Click Launch button. Now you will get User Account Control Settings window,

    choose Never notify.
