Status Lists fail following service pack 1 and June CU.

    Question

  • The following symptom has appeared on 4 separate farms for my client since installation of service pack 1 and June CU. The status lists in question are connected to SharePoint list views and monitor the items appearing under specific views.

On clicking on an item in a status list from the default kpistatusview.aspx page the standard page with a large image of the kpi icon is displayed (property view page). Previously, the items appearing in the connected view from the source list appeared below the icon image. Since the SP1 and CU update nothing appears below the KPI icon.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there an MSFT on here that could comment or specify if this is a known issue?

    Thank you.

    Kevin

We have also experienced this same issue and have call open to our MS DSE.

I will post back if we find a solution.

  • Hello Kevin,

Could you please provide us with detailed steps to reproduce this behavior so we can try and reproduce this in-house?

  • I posted this to the partner community and it is receiving attention there.

    The scenario:

    • Multiple sub sites across multiple site collections.
    • Site collections are created by powershell from a backup file.
    • Sub sites are created from a template
    • Each sub site has one Status Indicator list.
    • The Status indicator list has 6 indicators reporting on number of items appearing in views, within lists, within the same sub site.

    The issue

Before roll out of SharePoint 2010 service pack 1 and June CU, clicking on one of the status list items took the user to another page. This page was split into two. The top half displayed the indicator icon and associated hyperlink to the list. The bottom half displayed a list of items from the source list view, the indicator is set to read.

After service pack 1 and June CU roll out the bottom half of this page no longer displays. The items within the source list being monitered by the status (kpi) entry simply no longer appear yet the top half of the page is the same as before.

We have tested this on 5 separate farms post SP1 June CU and the behaviour is consistent. We created a new site collection by out-of-the-box method and the behaviour is consistent in the same farms.

The behaviour does not occur in farms which have not had service pack 1 or June CU applied. Production is to use Remote Blob Storage and therefore SP1 is a requirement.

    Please advise

    • Is this a known issue with service pack 1?
    • Is this a known issue with June CU?
    • Is this an unknown issue which will be addressed and if so when?
    • Is this issue unrelated to updates and advise can be given?

Many thanks for your assistance. Should you require further info please let me know.

  • Hello Kevin,

These steps are not adequate for doing a local repro at our end. If needed, please open a support incident with Microsoft to pursue this further. Please visit the below link to see the various paid support options that are available to better meet your needs: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=fh;en-us;offerprophone. • Nishant Shah,

We are also able to reproduce this issue Kevin reported on SP1 + June CU with version 14.0.6106.5002. We have posted the procedure how to reproduce the issue on http://sharepointconnoisseur.blogspot.com/2011/09/sharepoint-2010-sp1-and-june-cu-upgrade_14.html.

Anyone has workaround or solution on this, please share. We will submit the issue to Microsoft also.

    Harry

  • An update to this.

Following a premier support incident opened by our customer it is confirmed that June CU causes the issue.

Microsoft have requested a business impact statement before considering a hotfix for the issue. This is not a guarantee of course that a hotfix will be issued and the fix may come in another CU or service pack.

Many thanks to Harry, the blog article was valuable evidence.

  • Hello Harry,

I checked in 2 seperate SP2010 environments which are upgraded to Feb 2012 CU and the issue stands resolved and resource list on the bottom is visible. Here is the screenshot -

I looked at http://sharepointconnoisseur.blogspot.in/2012/04/sharepoint-2010-feb-cu-2012-issue-1-bi.html and what I notice is in RTM version you are referring to ItemView URL http://SharePoint/sites/BI/Lists/Status1/DispForm.aspx?ID=1&Source=%2Fsites%2FBI%2FLists%2FStatus1%2FKPIListViewPage%2Easpx&&View={6C11CC91-FAA1-43FA-A7A8-449CFD218928} and in the screenshot from FebCU you are referring to http://SharePoint/sites/BI/Lists/Status1/KPIListViewPage.aspx.

You will see the source list only in the item view, so please click on the item "Test1" under "Status1" and check again.
