Hostlevel backup of VHD's on a 12 Node Cluster

    Question

  • Hi Guys,

we wnat to improve our backup and restore szenario, and therefore my Qustion.

We have a 12 Node Cluster, where nearly 300 Hyper-V Machines (Total 300TB) installed on. Today we make a backup within each virtual machine.

Now I want to change the design of the Backup and want to switch to hostlevel backup of the machines. Because of hte ammount of the machines and the data size is the question: Is it possible to backup the Hyper-V Machines with several DPM Servers? If yes what happenend if one Hyper-V Machine failover to an other node rather than the originate location?

    Any help is appriciated

  • You can use the scale out feature of 2012 SP1 so you can have multiple DPM server protecting the Hyper-V workload

In a failover DPM will need to run a consistency check
