WSUS 3.0 SP2 and SCCM SP2 not compatible
- I am trying to figure out why my WSUS server stopped working, I have had WSUS 3.0 SP2 RC installed on my Server 2008 R2 RC box and everything was working fine. Then SCCM SP2 beta came out and I applied that to the machine now I am getting errors related to WSUS not working. I saw the link @ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938699 saying that after installing SCCM it can cause WSUS to stop working. This is old and out of date (not to mention for Server 2003), but could this be related?
Edit:
Uninstall and Reinstall of WSUS SP 2 RC fixed the issue, but I do believe it was directly related to the install of SCCM SP2 beta that broke WSUS. I don't use the Update feature of my SCCM server so I don't know if it broke that.

- I just installed WSUS 3.0 SP2 on my 2008 SP2 box and experienced no issue. I used RTM versions however - not RC. Also I didnt install to 2008 R2.

Do you still have Exchange 2000? Looking to upgrade to Exchange 2010? Read how. - There are known issues that could randomly occur with WSUS 3.0 SP1 or WSUS 3.0 SP2 with configMgr SP1 on the same server, regardless of what ServerOS is used. The workarounds I've heard of is putting WSUS on a server other than your configMgr server, or using some Windows Installer trickery to kind of 'hide' the WSUS msi so that a repair of WSUS is not attempted (which is what makes WSUS half disappear).
Since ConfigMgr 07 SP2 is still in beta, there aren't any statements I'm aware of regarding how it may or may not interact with WSUS. I suggest reporting this issue to the Microsoft Connect site for ConfigMgr 07 SP2 beta.
