    We have been runnig Exchnage 2010 for a year and 6 monnths now. Since its inception we have had issues with OWA and Outlook anywhere halting. That problem occurs about once or twice a month in which I run iisreset (which usually gives me allot of grief). The w3svc service will not always stop, some times it leads to a "Stop Pending" status. On Saturday, I tried to go to SP2 for exchnage 2010 and it failed several times. It seems the w3svc service is the mail culprit. Here is a nexcerpt for the install log;

    Do you have anti virus installed on the server? If yes, than I would suggest you uninstall it and try exchange installation.

    Hi ,

    I recommend you search for error log via Event Viewer on Exchange Server first. And find why w3svc stopped.

    Because even if update to SP2. This service also need to normal to guarantee CAS access.

    Hi Kmagyar,

    Check windows log via event viewer and view if it can find the error code of W3SVC service.

    If yes, please post here.

    Please try to do the following steps and check if it can successful.

    1.Start the W3SVC service.

    2.Install the Exchange SP2 using cmd line.

    setup.com /mode:upgrade
