    Hi,

How can i move the data exchange 2003 data base from one server called server1 with ip 1.1.1.1 to another server called server2 with ip 2.2.2.2? I have read many doc´s that explain how to restore a db to a diferent hardware, but same name and same ip than the old server.

Could you explain how to, or if you have any document, i apreciate.

    Thanks a lot

    Saul

You dont want to do that.
Exchange 2003 doesnt support database portability the way Exchange 2007 and 2010 do.

If you want to move to another server your best bets are installing Exchange on the new server and moving mailboxes or restoring the server in disasterrecovery mode to a server with the same name:

There is no requirement that the ip address stay the same. In fact:
If the IP address of the Exchange 2003 computer changes, make sure that you update Domain Name System (DNS) records. If you do not update DNS records, other servers may try to connect to the previous address.

( in case you move mailboxes and the source server is the first server in the admin group)

    Hi Andy,

    Thanks for the response.
I try to do this like a DRP in case of a disaster, but i read the Exchange documentation and have the same solution tha you give me.
I will plan to update to MS exchange 2007 to do this.

    Thanks a lot.
