Hello,
I have just recently reformatted my computer, which was purchased 3 years ago at a local store.
After formatting, I entered in my serial number that came with my computer, and Windows now says it is no longer valid, because it is currently in use, but this shouldn't be, since the previous use was me. I am now out of 'days' before I have to activate,
I have been trying to get it done for the past 30 days, but between not understanding the problem, and not being able to navigate the foolishness that is Microsofts technical support line; I can't get this fixed, and I'm becoming frustrated.
How do I go about getting my serial number to work?

You need to use telephone activation – your Key /is/ in use – by your previous activation.
To activate by Telephone, click on the Start button
in the Search box, type
SLUI 4
and hit the Enter Key
Follow the instructions, and when the phone service asks which service you require, do NOT respond – this should force an operator to pic up, who can deal with your problem.
