Unanswered Presence Unknown in Outlook 2010

I have the following environment (all on WIndows server 2003 R2 Standard):

OCS 2007 R2 Enterprise Front End

    OCS 2007 R2 Web Access

    OCS 2007 R2 Edge

I am in the process of migrating to Lync 2010. The Lync environment consists of (all on Windows 2008 R2):

    Lync 2010 Enterprise Front End

    Lync 2010 Edge

Only 1 pool in each environment and only 2 users have been migrated to Lync (for testing).

We plan to roll out Outlook 2010 sp1 and have been testing with both OCS and Lync and I have found that I get "Presence Unknown" for all users in Outlook (when I go the New Email and add the user). This happens in the OCS and Lync clients for a user on Outlook 2010. Works ok for Outlook 2007 for both clients. The presence shows up ok in the OCS and Lync Clients. It also shows up ok in the Lync Add-in for Outlook 2010...just not in Outlook 2010 itself. I cant work out why this is happening. I have searched on the Microsoft formus and googled it but cant find anything that has fixed the problem.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,Imahar,

Are your outlook and Lync client fully patched? You can download the latest hotfixed below.

    Outlook 2010  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2553248

    Lync client  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2684739

Would you please try to create a pure new Lync users and see the presence works?Pease NOTE that you should wait for the ABS file synchronization completed.

    Hi,

Yes I have Outlook 2010, Lync 2010 client and OCS 2007 R2 client fully patched. I have created a new user on Lync and I still cannot see the presence of other users in Outlook 2010 logged in as the new test account. I can using the Lync add-in for Outlook 2010 though.  Any other ideas? Please see screenshot below:

If I drag a contact from the To: field in the new message window to the Lync add-in in Outlook then that user appears as "presence unknown" in the Lync add-in as well. I cannot see the presence for the newly created account logged in as another user in Outlook 2010 either.

I have been doing some more testing and found that if I go to the Lync add-in in Outlook 2010, select a contact and right-click then select "Add to Outlook Contacts" then I can see the presence for the user when sending a new email to them (ie. in the To... Field). Surely we shouldnt need to add contacts for every user we want to see presence for to our personal Contacts list? Is there a new setting in Outlook 2010 that needs to be set as this does not happen in Outlook 2007?
