Hello Guys!
Im a newbie here and hoping that i can also contribute in the future.
Do you have any idea on how to activate a MAK product key for MS Project 2010 on a limited user account running on system context silently? I already used the /act via cscript but I received an error code: 0x80072EFD. I also did creating an msi file via OCT and this only works on admin account. Take note I am connected to the internet but i am using limited user account. Any help on how to activate the product key silently would be much appreciated.. Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi,
you need to set the USEROPERATIONS key/value to allow a Standard User to perform activation:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee624357.aspxNote that if using MAK, the user account performing the installation/activation must have direct, or transparently-proxied internet access (it must not prompt for authentication at your proxy)

Hi Don, thanks for your reply. I've already tried the USEROPERATIONS yesterday but unfortunately it didn't work. I'm still receiving the error code: 0x80072EFD after running the /act command using cscript. I'm using a limited user account on a win7 64 bit architecture. I'm on proxied internet access. Additionally, On the command window, it says that installed product is detected - attempting to activate the following product:
SKU ID:
LICENSE NAME: Office 14, OfficeProjectStd-MAK edition
LICENSE DESCRIPTION: Office 14, RETAIL channel
Last 5 characters of the installed product key:...................
ERROR CODE: 0x80072EFD
ERROR DESCRIPTION: Run the following: cscript ospp.vbs /ddescr:0x80072EFD
------------------------------------------------
After that, it the cmd window exits, then after re-launching the MS PRoject Standard 2010, it prompts a "Microsoft Office Activation Wizard" window asking for 2 options on how you would like to activate MS PRoject,, via internet or via telephone, even if I am already connected to the internet, and on File>Help, it still says that Product Activation Required. Thanks very much for your help!

ok, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931276 reveals that 0x80072EFD is a connection problem.
you mentioned you are installing when in system context, and, you are using proxied internet access.
and, that it succeeds when a user logs in and executes the activation wizard.this all sounds like a problem with authenticated proxy access that is denied to LocalSystem (i.e. the computer account)
you can test this by adding an unauth rule to your proxy for the activation URL's, or, by adding the domain computer account (or Domain Computers) to the unauth list on your proxy.
the USEROPERATIONS setting is only local to the machine so that a standard (unprivileged) user can ask SPPSVC to write the files/regkeys required for Office Activation to succeed. userops doesn't help with the comms channel to activation servers at all.

vendredi 29 juin 2012 09:38regarding the unauthorized proxy setting, can you share how to setup that? We are using a standard proxy setting. Under Internet Options>Connections>LAN Settings>Proxy server, the Use a proxy........ is checked and the Bypass proxyserver for local addresses is checked...

regarding the unauthorized proxy setting
sorry, when i wrote "unauth rule" this means unauthenticated, not unauthorised.
if your company network is connected to the internet, most likely this is via a proxy server or firewall/router.
there are many kinds of proxy, and the configurations are something your company networking person/team will know.these settings are not stored/set/done in the browser settings on the pc, they are done in the proxy server/software .
