Cleaning up Social Tags

I have come to a point where I find it logical that my social tags will not get updated if the target URL changes. However, this doesn't fit into the concept of how SharePoint has handled links so far so I haven't given up yet.
My problem is that I use the social features quite extensively throughout a large SharePoint 2010 Intranet Site. Every publishing page hosts a tag cloud which shows all tags beneath the current URL by every user. In the simplest scenario one page that had a couple of tags associated gets deleted. The social tags, which had been asociated to that page don't get deleted and therefore the tag cloud web part shows wrong information.
Things get even worse, if content gets restructured. If an entire section of the intranet gets moved to another section or even the Url of the top level site gets renamed (from 'aboutus' to 'about'), all tags get orphaned immediately.
Is there any way, the social tags and notes can be updated whenever SharePoint content changes? This does work with other links and AAM as well.
Cheers,

Hi,
Have you completed a full crawl after the restructure? Also are you seeing in the event logs any errors relating to profile sync? Also what build are you on currently? From the description as well it matches a known issue we have seen but the timeframe for the fix has not been determined yet.

Hi all,
I'm facing exactly the same problem. Did you find any solution? is this bug resolved?
Thanks

Alex,
I'm afraid, this behavior is by design. The social tags are not directly coupled with the SharePoint content.
There are some cases where you enable the keyword propagation of managed metadata columns, where the entered tags are synchronized with the social tags. You could implement some event handlers which update the social tags whenever a web is being moved or deleted, or when other elements change.
If you find another solution, please be so kind and post it here.
