Answered Searching a site collection

We are running SharePoint Server 2010 with 15 web applications/site collections.  We are unable to search from within one of the site collections.  The search server is setup to search the site collection.  Searching is enabled in the site.  When we search, results come back empty. Searches on other site collections are working.

Does the content access account have read access to the missing site/web application?  What can you see in the crawl logs@

Yes, I even tried to search with my sharepoint admin account.  the only thing I can think of is that the web application is extended with a different url.  Originally, it was http://lib and we had to change it to http://lcs but I already change the search to include http://lcs but there are no results showing.

Definitely confirm what is in the crawl log and see if the site is listed there.  If you don't see it, review your content sources and verify that you are crawling the site using its default alternate access mapping.  Also make sure that the search default content access account has readonly permissions on the site.

We have already set up the alternate access mapping.  We also recreated the search application itself.  The search would not display results based on the alternate access mapping that has already been set.

What are you seeing in the crawl logs, any errors?

The content access account is the farm admin.  We see crawl logs showing the url but showing only 3 links.  I finally called Microsoft Professional Support and they recreated the search service application after removing the original url off the search url and it is searching now.  Thank you so much for all your help.  I do appreciate any suggestions I receive from the forum.
