    kb 978527 is "The Resource Hosting Subsystem (Rhs.exe) process stops unexpecedly when you start a cluster resource in Windows Server 2008 R2".

    This hotfix is not listed with the documented SP1 RC hotfixes.

    Is this hotfix supported in WS08 R2 SP1 RC?

    Is there a reason it is has been excluded from the SP1 RC?

      The hotfix is made for Server 2008 R2 RTM and can't be installed on Sp1 RC. I don't know if the hotfix is included. Can you still reproduce the error with Sp2 RC?

        Thanks, Andre.  We won't apply the hotfix to SP1.  Good to know.

        The cause given for kb 978527 is "System environment variable path contains other environment variables that define path to the other binary files. The Rhs.exe process incorrectly overwrites heap memory beyond its tail when the Rhs.exe process expand system environment variable path."

        Without the hotfix, our result was corrupted SAN-boot volumes on cluster nodes.

        It would be even better to know we should not need to worry about this problem in SP1.  But, yes, we'll be testing anyway.
