I tried installing office XP many times in administrator mode as well.
I cant get it to work.
After installation, when i try to start the office applications, it prompts me for installation CD. This should not happen. Even if I give it the CD, it tries to load but never fully loads and ends up doing nothing.
If I start internet explorer, I get prompt for the installation of Office XP also. And then the windows flashes very fast continually as if its opening and closing extra windows.
BTW I have upgraded to Office XP service pack 3 also to no avail.
Please advise.
EDIT: I would post pictures but I dont know where to upload.
As far as i know Office XP will not work on Windows 7. Only Office 2003 or newer will install on Windows 7 at this time. I have not seen any reports of that version of Office working flawlessly. There is nothing but problems trying to get it to work.
I have already made purchases for the pre-order. Will this be fixed by the real release? I personally prefer the style of office XP (which I own) or 2003 (which I do not own) for my laptop, versus office 2007 (which I use @ work).
I also can't install solid edge for some reason either.
If it will help, I loaded Office XP Pro 2002 And it runs well with one frustrating exception. Every time I open outlook, it requires me to renter my passwords for all of my e-mail accounts. It shows the pass words in the "account" edit section but just wants to see if old people can remember stuff?
Can you tell me how you went about installing it? I tried installing it many times to no avail. I tried installing in the administrator account and running in administrator mode.
I also have issues when IE because it asks for the installation file.
