USB Port Not Working

Hello, I have a half year old Toshiba L740.
Recently, one of my USB slots didn't work.
I tried to search the posts that can help make the slot work again.
It did work for a very short period of time ( like 10 minutes) when I re-started the laptop just for one time.
Then, I tried to do "regedit" thing.
When I clicked "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\", the only thing listed there was "Default". I couldn't do anything further.
Can anyone help me to solve this problem?
