When I open a Remote Desktop connection to my Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit laptop, the connection is limited to 16 bpp. How do I enable my laptop to accept 24 bpp connections? I found lots of advice on the web, but none of it seems to be applicable.
Thanks!
P.S. E.g. from Linux client I see:
% rdesktop -a 24 win7pro_hostname
WARNING: Remote desktop does not support colour depth 24; falling back to 16

Ask SUSE’s IRC channels / forums about how to do this if you’re uncertain.

Luigi, the link you provided recommends using 32 bpp with Win 7. Unfortunately, it still does not work:
% rdesktop -a 32 win7pro_hostname
WARNING: Remote desktop does not support colour depth 32; falling back to 16 -

Please refer below link will help you.
Mohammed,
That page seems irrelevant - does not touch on the bpp issues at all, as far as I can tell...

I noticed that the problem happened on Linux client. Did you tried any windows client to connect to the windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit laptop?
1. If the problem doesn;t occur on windows clients, you need to check it from Linux side.
2. If the problem occrurs on windows clients, the problem should be on the side of Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit laptop. Please check whether the follow group policy is cofigured on Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit laptop.
Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> remote desktop Services -> Remote Desktip Seesion Host -> Remote Seesion Environment -> 'Limit maximum Color Depth'
This policy setting allows you to specify the maximum color resolution (color depth) for Remote Desktop Services connections.
If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, the color depth for connections is determined by the "Limit Maximum Color Depth" setting on the Client Settings tab in the Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration tool, unless a lower level is specified by the user at the time of connection.
