Windows XP mode does not start on Windows7
-
vendredi 4 mai 2012 04:37I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on 4GB RAM. I have to run legacy ERP software so I installed Virtual PC so that I can run XP mode on Windows 7. I set aside more RAM - 2GB for XP. Saved the virtual PC settings. Win XP does not start after that. It starts only when it is 256 or 512MB RAM. Why? Response is appreciated. Thanks.

You probably have another program that is mishandling memory. It's probably GoogleCrashHandler.exe, that's the most recent one to doit. Here's a thread that describes how to disable it:

Hi,
XP Mode cannot start can be caused by the memory is not enough. In your case, some applications have cost more than 2GB memory when you began to launch XP Mode.
To resolve this issue, you can reduce the memory setting of XP Mode or cut off some application when start XP Mode.
In addition, you can test the issue in Clean Boot environment also.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
