Windows Server 2008 Core CD instead of DVD?
- Hello,
Is there a (2-3) CD version of Windows Server 2008 core? I have an old system which currently runs Server 2003 and I want to try to run Server 2008 Core on it since I expect it will function faster. The system doesn't have a DVD player though, so I wonder if there is any CD version of Server 2008. Or maybe there is a way to split the DVD into CD's?
Or is there any other way to install Server 2008 on this machine without DVD player? Perhaps some PE system that mounts ISO's over the network or so?
Thanks!
Yours truly,
Ruud van Strijp

- I'm sorry to have to inform you there is no CD version of Windows Server 2008.
ISO images, bootable USB sticks/disks and your (TCP-IP) network are all alternatives to using the DVD.

- Create ISO's of the DVD's and use magicDisk to mount. Or you can always virtualize your instance which would allow you to mount the DVD.
Hope this helps!

- You can use vLite to build a Server Core CD. It works well.
