File Server configuration

Hi there,
We have one server based on W2k8 R2 serving as a File Server for exchanging small txt files. Usually they are not more than 3KB and the biggest one could reach 1 MB. This case extremely rare.
The amount of files exchanged is around 10 000 files per day.
We've noticed that the server becomes more and more slower. Currently it has only 2GB and i was wondering if someone has any idea what would be an ideal HW configuration for such file server.
So, please any idea/suggestion/advice/best practice will be highly appreaciated.
Thanks,

Start with checking this one:

Make sure your cluster size is small. And try flushing volume cache (put sync into scheduler) to return disk cache to OS:

Hope this helped :)
