Windows server 2008 remote desktop store self-signed certificate

There is a self-signed certificate under all Windows server 2008 remote desktop store. Couldn't find any related article, may I know what is the certificate use for?
Is the certificate only matter if the server itself is a terminal server/remote desktop server?
