Hi!
I need to format my Windows 2003 Domain Controller and install Windows 2008 R2. I already have a windows 2008 R2 Domain Controller as an Additional DC. What is the proper way to transfer the roles from Windows 2003 DC to Windows 2008 ADC to make it the main DC?
Thanks!

Have you seen?
How to view and transfer FSMO roles in the graphical user interface
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/255690Make sure you gracefully dcpromo down the windows 2003 box after transferring FSMO roles. Then perform clean install of Windows 2008 R2 on existing hardware from old DC.
