Hi there,
I have an issue where my Exchange 2010 server won't synch with the domain, which both running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1, under VMware. The issues started when I move the domain server into different datastore and take snapshot of the Exchange Server 2010.
At the moment, I have replication error from DCDIAG:
[Replications Check,EXCH-01] A recent replication attempt failed:
From DC-01 to EXCH01
Naming Context: DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=company_name,DC=org,DC=au
The replication generated an error (8456):
Win32 Error 8456
The failure occurred at 2012-05-21 11:18:51.
The last success occurred at 2012-05-19 09:29:10.
200 failures have occurred since the last success.
Replication has been explicitly disabled through the server options.During troubleshooting, I believe the issue is USN Rollback as the Netlogon service on the domain server has been PAUSED. I did run repadmin /showutdvec for both server. I can confirm that the USN ID are different.
REPADMIN /SHOWUTDVEC from Domain server:

After reading all Technet Documentations and Googing around, I need to demote my Exchange server and then shut it down, do clean metadata on the domain server, remove all DNS records associated with my Exchange, remove my exchange from AD Sites & Services.
The only concern to demoting the domain controller is because my Exhcange is running on that server. Will it affect my Exchange if I demote it?
If I may, what is the best way to fix this USN Rollback issue in Exchange server.
Thank you so much for your help.

We just took the account for this company, and no, they do not have the backup for exchange. The EXCH01 is running in the cloud as Global Catalogue for the network in the cloud.
Will demoting my EXCH01 as Global Catalogue will affecting the operational of the live Exchange 2010?
That is the only thing that stop me to apply the fix, unless there is some better way to do this.
Thank you.

Hi,
It will break Exchange and is not supported.
For your AD problem, I recommend that you ask in the Directory Services Forum.Martina Miskovic
