    Hi

    How to decide on the Solution Package property "Deployment Server Type" ?

    Its mentioned here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee231560.aspx

    Particularly when could it be "Application Server"?

    Hi,

    you can use "Application Server" option if you deploy something which only will run in application server and no communicate with the user interface [WFE server] for example job timer which perform something in search application.
