My environment:
Service Manager mangement server on VM with SQL
Service Manager data warehouse management serever on VM with SQL
Using domain accounts for all authentication access. domain SM_admin group added to the local admin group on both servers.
The installation was successfully completed.
When I attempt to register with the Service Manager Data Warehouse from the System Center Service Manager Console;
- the Data Warehouse option is populated into the control panel
Then a message appears...
"The Service Manager data warehouse SQL Reporting Services server is currently unavailable. You will be unable to execute reports until this server is available. Please contact your system administrator. After the server becomes available please close your console and re-open to view reports."
I have verified that the Report server is availble and I can browse to the URL successfully.
Firewalls on both the servers have been switched off - for now.
The DNS suffix is populated in the relevant network fileds... refer to this post...

I have closed and open the SCSM console several times and rebooted both SCSM servers, yet this message persists.
This appears to be quite a common issue and the message is not intuitive or helpful!
Please help?
thanks, --samuel

And what about your report user; is that account working as it should? Try logging in on the mgmt. server with that account and see if you can access the reporting url.

I was at a customer yesterday which had the exact same issue, and the problem there was their proxy. Do you use a proxy?

I had it running with a self-signed certificate and this was not trusted on my workstation where i'm running the console. After importing the certificate so that it's trusted error was gone and problem solved.
