Ive been having troubles with my HTPC and any Freeview broadcast.
Im not too sure if its the broadcast, a hardware or codec problem.
When watching Freeview (any program, on any channel) the audio starts to stutter and eventually goes silent (quite frequently). In order to get the sound back I have to pause it and play again.

This only happens when watching live TV, but does not happen on recorded or chase play TV.
I have also pressed record while stutter occurs and recording is perfect, even thou the stutter has progressed in to silence.
The problems started when I was forced to upgrade my hardware as what I believe the PCI-E slot failed.
Both systems are running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and inbuilt Windows Media Center
My upgraded setup is:
- Intel i3-2100 3.1ghz processor
- Asus P8H61-M Pro motherboard
- 1 x 4gb Ram
- 550w PSU
- CoreAVC for MKV playback
- Clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
- WPI of 4.9
Carry over components from previous system:
- Geforce 210 video card 512mb
- OEM SATA 160gb hard drive
- 2 x USB tv tuner sticks (AverTV a825 and PCTV 73e) to receive Freeview (3 x tuners)
- USB IR receiver
- OEM Compaq SR1925 case
When watching Freeview HD CPU usage is no more than 10%
My previous was a Compaq SR1925 home PC and have upgraded it with:
- Athlon 64 X2 3800+ processor
- 1 x 512mb, 1 x 2gb, totaling 3gb Ram
- 2nd 320gb hard drive
- CoreAVC for MKV playback
- WPI 3.8
Other components in my system are:
- Sony 40" LCD TV (connected via HDMI)
- Pioneer VSX915 amp (connected via digital coaxial(old system) / optical (new system))
- Harmony One remote
Things I have tried:
-Using drives provided by Windows update, and failing that the latest drivers from the manufacturers site.
-Attempting to change the audio codec to 3rd party codec
-Using 32bit and 64bit Windows 7
-Outputting audio to TV Via HDMI, then using stereo RCA to Amp
-Installed Mediaportal (worked without any problems so should rule out broadcast issue)

I havent tried a Clean Boot, but in the weekend I did do a clean install with only Windows 7 and necessary drivers (graphics card, sound, USB drivers, TV stick etc), no codecs, nothing.
The problem still occurs both when there are no updates installed and once all updates have been installed.

Please still try Clean Boot, and make sure that you have the latest version of all drivers installed again.
I also suggest that you try disabling all audio enhancements. For instructions, see

Any particular process I should disable or enable when doing a clean boot?
To further complicate the situation, I have edited the pre play buffer pool in the registery to triple the default (as there is no information out there about it).
It works perfectly only after a restart, if I put it to sleep and wake it from s3 sleep/standby the problem returns.
Also please, please bear in mind also that chase play and recorded TV programs work perfectly.
To explain the YouTube video a bit better, I recorded when I realised it had started stuttering and let it stutter until it went silent, then I press pause and play and the sound returns to normal again, the cycle continues indefinitely.

All processes should be disabled by unchecking Load startup items in msconfig, as instructed by the Clean Boot article.
Does disabling all audio enhancements help?
The YouTube video that you have linked to has already been deleted, so I can't watch it.
The fact that the problem only occurs after having resumed from sleep seems to point to a driver issue.

I found the answer to my problem.
In the registry I increased the Pre Pool Buffer to double the default and followed the instructions posted by "corego" on this forum.
