Sync Shared Contacts to GAL or WM5

Help!
I am struggling with the best way to get my shared contacts to be synchronized with my mobile phone without having to copy everything into my contacts.
Or perhaps there is a way to copy shared contacts to the GAL such that the "find online" works. I am not too thrilled with having all the contacts put into Active Directory, but I need a solution!
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think it is rather short sighted that Exchange 2007 has active sync built in, but it cannot be configured to sync public folders (contacts and calendars).

Well, yes and no....
No, because, as you can see, no one responded. A by default admission of "Can't be done"
Yes, because I think we are going to write a utility that allows us to copy (on a nightly basis) everything from the GAL to the users's box, and keep track of categories as a method of synchronization. Clearly, not the best solution at all, but something that is acceptable for now.
I really am surprised this did not make it in the 2007 release with all the hubub about this in all the forums.
