So, to detail my network first, I have the following configuration:
- CommsT0 with Exchange Server 2010 SP2 with the HT, MB, and UM features installed
- Clnts0 with Exchange Server 2010 SP2 with CA installed
- CommsV0 with Lync Server 2010 Front-End installed
My question is, does Lync Server 2010 have to have access to a CA Exchange Server in order for it to full communicate with Exchange for the address book and feature combination with Outlook using Exchange, and if so, do I have to specify that the CA server is a different name from the other roles that the servers have?
I am asking because I cannot get my Lync server to fully connect to Exchange server for Address Book and Calendar statuses, but I can get into the voicemail just fine, and that works splendidly, just not the address book in the Lync address book nor does it seem to think that its fully connected.

You don't have to let Lync "Server" access to CA Exchange Server, but have to let Lync "Client" access to it. I assume you need to configure DNS server for Lync Client to auto-discover it.
At first, Lync Server's address book is a different thing from Exchange Server's one. Lync Server generates it from user's information on Active Directory and Lync Client downloads it from Lync Server. There is no necessity to access CA server.
At second, Lync Client accesses to CA Exchange Server for Outlook and Exchange integration features. To find CA server, Lync Client does not use Active Directory's service connection point but uses a DNS record for autodiscover.
At last, Lync Server and Client have no specification about CA server's name.

Agree with Yutaka,you have Lync client to trust the Exchange CA to get the Exchange integration features such as Exchange contact sync and Free/Busy presence status in Calendar.
When you stated " I cannot get my Lync server to fully connect to Exchange server for Address Book and Calendar statuses" do you mean you have "cannot synchronize with corperation addree book" error message displyed on your clients and the free/busy information is not synchronized with Outlook Calendar?Here are some KB articles,and you can check the solutions in them to see if they also works for you.
