Jawab Cisco Communicator hijacked my presence

So, I was testing Cisco Jabber client 9.0.1 Build 8802.  It's apparently pretty new.

My issue is - when I installed it it hijacked presence and dialing.  I get it - I know why it would do that.

Nevertheless, we are Lync here - and we were just wanting the Cisco Communicator client to be pretty much a "softphone" and let Lync do what it does best.

I can't figure out how to get OUTLOOK 2010 to revert back from Cisco to Lync as the presence provider.  I have done all of the registry checking that i can think of .. i've made sure that all of the Lync add-ins are added and enabled.   I honestly don't even see where Cisco's hooks are at in outlook.

Any tips are getting Lync and this Cisco client to live together - but for the Cisco to defer to Lync as the presence provider in Outlook?

    THANKS!!!  -G

I also reinstalled Lync.  Yeah.  Tried that.

I know that if I uninstall Cisco it'll fix it to.  Just wondering if there is a tip to quickly configure the client to change providers of presence information

So. I uninstalled Cisco Communicator.  After that ... the presence came back into Outlook via Lync.  But, when I tried to schedule an Online meeting using the "Online Meeting" button in Outlook ... I created the meeting request but when I tried to hit SEND on the request - I got the error "the request failed" "make sure that you are signed into Lync" over and over again.  I signed off and on ... I restarted laptop - restarted Outlook ... nothing.  So, now I'm running a repair on Office and if that doesn't work - step 2 will be reinstalling Lync (again).   Why can't these 2 products live together without issues?

When I was messing around with CuciLync (junk) I had to completely reinstall my Office.  They need to get their act together IMO.

    Hi,Greg,

Have you seen this old thread? It seems like same issues when use Cisco Client and Lync client and you can try the solution in it to see if it also works for you.

thanks sharon.  I read through the info. Good to know that others have seen this.   So, I just uninstalled the Cisco client.  I tried to do registry updates for Outlook ... and add-on changes and whatnot - i can't for the life of me figure out how the Cisco client is hooking into Outlook to take over presence.   This question seems to have no answer apart from understanding how the Cisco client is doing what it is doing.  Even reinstalling Lync doesn't take it back to Lync presence.  Or, maybe it's just my issue.

    Hi,Greg,

Have you tried to delete or rename the existing user profile then reload it again  as the old thread solution to see if it works?

Would you please  check the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\IM and verify that you have Dword key "enabled"  and "EnablePresence" set to 1?

Also please make sure HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IM Providers  and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\IM Providers (If you are using Outlook 2010 64 bit)  contains the same key and value.
