    Good time to everyone!

    We trying to establish peer-to-peer audio/video call but the lync client can not do it. There is an error "Call failed due to network issues".

    All the ports between workstations with Lync client are closed. I use the Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Protocol Workloads Poster.

     It says that ports must not be opened between clients (except Application Sharing). We can not open ports between worksations due to security considerations. How can we enable peer-to-peer communications in our case?

    As far as Peer to Peer to audio or video is concern, the first attempt by the Lync clients will be to do a Media sessions directly between the two clients, and the required ports should be open.

    If that fails (due to no routing or port restrictions, etc) the clients will try to use the Lync Edge internal interface to proxy the media sessions between the clients. In this case the clients should be able to connect t edge over UDP 3478 ot TCP 443.

    Hi,

    If two clients need to establish media session they should open the requried media ports for communication directly or connect to the internal Edge NIC over either UDP 3478 or TCP 443 if media ports closed.

    If you determined on blocking ports between your users,you should deploy edge server with high availability to handle the amount of Audio/Video sessions
