hi. i have deployed Office 2010 Professional Plus to some test users but wasn't aware that entering product key and activation are done after installations. fortunately, i found VAMT 2.0 and activated them using our MAK keys.

now i need to deploy to more users. i read that the best way, specially for user who don't have internet connections, is to configure a KMS server. i came across this https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=25095 , downloaded and installed it in my Win7 PC.

we only have a single domain and we're using MS DNS servers. from what i understood there's nothing else to do except wait for Office2010 clients to show up and activate (by default) once my Win7 KMS host is found.

question is, now what? is that it?

    Hi,

on your KMShost, you need to install the Office host pack, and then install your Office KMShost product key, and activate that key.
This sets up your KMShost to begin issuing activations, as client contact your KMShost it will eventually collect 5 office clients needing activation and then begin activating them when they contact the KMShost again.

    Hi,

i used the product key (type KMS) and it got activated. is that the same as the "Office host pack"? because i'm not sure where or what is a "Office host pack".

By default, Windows machines do not know how to "host" Office KMS functions, they only know how to "host" Windows KMS functions.
To implement an Office KMShost, you need to install the Office KMShost pack, and then "install" the Office KMShost pkey, then activate that Office KMShost pkey. Only then will your KMShost be capable of issuing Office activations to KMSclients.

The download you referenced above, is for the Office host pack (proper name: Microsoft Office 2010 KMS Host License Pack )
It sounds like you've done everything.
The best way to check, is to see what your KMS thinks its status is.
    On your KMShost machine, execute:

    cscript slmgr.vbs /dli all
